PREPARATION OF ZEOLITES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: An improved method of preparing zeolites of varying compositions is disclosed. The preparation involves: combining solutions of sodium silicate and sodium aluminate at elevated temperatures under conditions of high shear, thereby forming a creamy, translucent, completely dispersed gel containing no visible gel particles. The gel may be seeded before being heated to induce crystallization. After the material is completely crystallized, it is filtered, washed and dried. The zeolite may be activated by further heating if required. The reaction can be carried out in both batch and continuous modes, and any raw materials not required by the stoichiometry of the product can be recycled conveniently. The particle size of the product is desirably small and uniform.
