A prescription compliance device (1) which aids patients in complying with instructions given by a physician for taking prescription medication. The device (1) reminds a patient when the next dose of medication is to be taken and indicates whether a specified dose has been taken. The device (1) includes a microcontroller (9), a display (3), a program memory (20) for storing pre- programmed medication-taking regimens for single and multiple medications, a real time clock, a selector for selecting one of the regimens and for programming the device as to the time and day on which a first dose of medication is to be taken, a display (3) which alternately displays the current time and a time at which a next dose of medication is to be taken and an alarm (8) which alerts the patient at times when a dose of medication is to de taken. The selector includes an event switch (4) which is activated by the patient after taking a dose of medication so as to record the taking of medication and to cause the microcontroller (9) to effect the display (3) of the next time at which a dose of medication is to be taken. A memory (10) may also be included to record the times at which a patient takes doses of medication. The device (1) also includes a remote programming feature (40) via a wireless link.
L'invention concerne un dispositif d'observance thérapeutique aidant les patients à respecter les instructions données par un médecin quant à la prise d'un médicament. Ce dispositif signale au patient le moment où la dose suivante de médicament doit être prise, et indique si une dose spécifiée a été prise. Il comporte un microcontrôleur, un afficheur, une mémoire de programmes destinée au stockage de régimes posologiques programmés pour des médicaments isolés ou combinés, une horloge temps réel, un sélecteur destiné à sélectionner l'un de ces régimes et à programmer un jour et une heure pour la prise d'une première dose de médicament, un afficheur permettant d'afficher, de manière alternée, l'heure actuelle et l'heure à laquelle la prochaine dose de médicament doit être prise, ainsi qu'une alarme signalant au patient le moment auquel une dose de médicament doit être prise. Le sélecteur comprend un commutateur d'événement activé par le patient après la prise d'une dose de médicament et servant à enregistrer la prise de ce médicament, le microcontrôleur provoquant alors l'affichage de la prochaine heure à laquelle une dose de médicament doit être prise. Une mémoire peut également être intégrée en vue d'enregistrer les heures auxquelles un patient prend son médicament. Ce dispositif comporte en outre un élément de programmation à distance connecté par l'intermédiaire d'une liaison sans fil.
