A preservation container for food or the like, comprising a closable container body (2), a lid (3) mounted thereon, the lid (3) having an opening (5) formed therethrough, and an impermeable sheet (6) having a vent hole (7) offset from the opening (5) to cover the latter. When the container is evacuated, the sheet (6) is sucked and held on the outer surface of the lid (3) with its region corresponding to the opening (5) inwardly curved.
