A fluid dispensing system (10) for delivering sterile preservative-free solution (20) is disclosed. The system (10) uses double self-sealing valves (56, 58) mounted in series inside a tip compartment (22) which fits on the outlet of a multiple dosage squeeze container (12) to prevent undesirable retrograde flow of the dispensed liquid back into the bottle (12) during the decompression cycle. The valves (56, 58) used are either positive acting, normally closed duckbill and/or umbrella valve(s) which open to express solution from the container (12) when squeezing pressure is applied to the bottle (12) and which automatically close when the pressure is released. The fluid dispensing system (10) with an umbrella valve (58A) near the system outlet (66) has close to zero dead space volume thereby practically eliminating possible contamination of the sterile fluid (20) under the circumferential seal head portion (80) of the umbrella valve (58A) and in the container (12). A hydrophobic filter (34) is provided to sterilize the replacement air which enters the container (12) upon release of the squeezing pressure.
