An endless loop press belt in an extended nip press including a press shoe and a press roller, the press roller having a turning axis. The press belt consists of a plurality of monofilament and/or multifilament reinforcing yarns encased in an elastomeric body by means of a casting process. The elastomeric body has an inner surface which is received adjacent to the press shoe and an outer surface received adjacent to the press roller. The plurality of reinforcing yarns consist of an outer non-woven yarn layer disposed adjacent to the outer surface of the press belt and a separate inner non-woven yarn layer disposed adjacent to the inner surface of the press belt. The outer yarn layer consists of a plurality of spaced parallel yarns extending in a crosswise direction parallel to the turning axis of the press roller. The inner yarn layer consists of a plurality of spaced parallel yarns extending in a lengthwise running direction perpendicular to the turning axis of the press roller. The inner and outer layers of yarns cooperate to provide high tensile strength while retaining the elasticity required for use in the extended nip press. The technical problem underlying the invention is to provide a press belt which is rugged and durable while maintaining flexibility for use in a shoe type pressing device.
Une courroie pour presses, se présentant sous forme d'une boucle sans fin, comprend des fibres de renforcement transversales et longitudinales. Les fibres de renforcement transversales (16) sont en position adjacente à la surface externe de la courroie (10), et les fibres de renforcement longitudinales (18) sont en position adjacente à la surface interne de la courroie (10). Ces fibres (16, 18) sont déposées à l'intérieur d'un cylindre de coulée, et un matériau élastomère (20) est coulé sur elles tandis que le cylindre est en rotation. Les fibres transversales (16) sont déposées en premier dans le cylindre de coulée de façon à être adjacentes à la surface externe de la courroie, après quoi les fibres longitudinales (18) sont déposées sur les fibres transversales (16).
