21 Abstract A snap fastener (1) for securing shoe laces (8) comprises two openings (4; 5) disposed diametrically to each other through which the shoe laces (8) are passed. The openings (4; 5) vertically extend through the snap fastener (1) when the latter is opened. An inner sleeve (2) is in a larger outer sleeve (3) such that it is vertically movable thereto. The inner sleeve (2) accommodates an inner ring. When a pressure is exerted on the outer sleeve (3), the ring is made to rotate as the vertical movement is converted into a horizontal circular movement so that the shoe laces (8) are immovably clamped by the snap fastener (1). (Fig. 9A)
