ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a press suitable for squeezing out the juice contained in ligneous materials. The press according to the present invention comprises a pressure roller of a relatively large diameter adapted to cooperate with a plurality of smaller cylindrical satellite rollers to press said ligneous material. The pressure roller has a substantially smooth surface while each of the satellite rollers has a lateral surface interrupted by a series of ring grooves. The base of each of said grooves is adapted to allow the squeezed out juices to pass therethrough while each of the ring grooves, at least adjacent to the lateral surface of a satellite roller, is bounded by opposite side faces which are parallel and perpendicular to the axis of the respective satellite roller.
