A B S T R A C T A press for coating chipboard with thermoplastic laminated sheet comprises a large roller onto which the sheet laminate and chipboard are run where a belt passing over an arrangement of rollers is positioned so as to partially wrap around the large roller thereby pressing the sheet laminate and chipboard together between the belt and the large roller. The large roller is at the plastic temperature of the sheet laminate so as to bond the laminate sheet to the chipboard, and the length of belt wrapping around the large roller at any one time sufficient to ensure the required heat transfer to the chipboard, yet allow escape of water vapour when the chipboard temperature rises over the boiling point of water. i
