A press pad made of asbestos-free material for use in different types of high- pressure and low-pressure presses. The press pads of the instant invention are made from yams composed of an aromatic polyamide and metal filaments in combination with a plurality of heat resistant filaments. The press pads can be used in presses having short cycle and multiplaten presses for the lamination of particle-boards with melamine, or in high pressure presses for the production of high-pressure laminates.
