A press-plate assembly for pressing material into a larger than usual sheet protector having a size greater than 11 by 14 inches. The press-plate assembly is configured to be mounted to a press which includes at least two press-heads. The press-plate assembly comprises opposite press-mounting and pressing side. The press-mounting side is so configured and sized as to be simultaneously mounted to the at least two press-heads so as to span the width thereof. The pressing side includes a pressing surface which is so configured and sized as to impart the shape and size of the larger than usual sheet protector to the material which is to be pressed. Disclosed herein is also a method of making a larger than usual sheet protector.
