ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a press roll with a bending control device with a roll shell for receiving the external pressing power and with a supporting shaft located within the roll shell, supporting and rotating with the latter but mounted outside said roll shell and a plurality of supporting devices arranged in the longitudinal direction of the roll on the supporting shaft and which can be supplied by ducts in the supporting shaft with hydraulic fluid for exerting a pressure on the inner surface of the roll shell in such a way that the orientation of the resultant force action produced in each of these supporting devices remains unchanged even when the roll shell is rotating, wherein each of the supporting devices has an annular chamber which without interruption surrounds the supporting shaft, connected to one of the ducts for the hydraulic fluid supply and tightly sealed on all sides against the outflow of hydraulic fluid, with hydraulic fluid seas and lateral limiting means, whereby each of these supporting devices has an elastically compressible and flexible circular limiting member initially located at the roll shell, whose radial expansion is limited by holding-back means supported on the supporting shaft in such a way that the maximum possible spacing between the peripheral supporting surface part of the annular chamber limiting member and the supporting shaft axis is at a maximum approximately the same as the inside radius of the roll shell.
