An apparatus and process for dehumidification of a compressed gas using a membrane cartridge dryer wherein substantially dry gas is provided upon process startup without requiring purging of the membrane cartridge. In the apparatus, a back pressure regulator valve controls the release of compressed gas to the dryer and a check valve controls the release of the dry gas from the dryer.

Dispositif et procédé pour la déshumidification d'un gaz comprimé faisant appel à une cartouche déshydratante à membrane, et dans lequel un gaz relativement sec est admis au moment du démarrage, ce qui permet d'effectuer le démarrage sans nécessité de purger la cartouche déshydratante à membrane. Un régulateur de contre-pression commande l'admission de gaz comprimé à l'intérieur de la cartouche et un clapet de retenue commande l'évacuation de gaz déshumidifié de la cartouche.
