A pressure cooker is disclosed in which the unit is composed of a standard stove top or microwaveable pressure cooker surrounded by a temperature control (or cooling) system. The pressure cooker is cooled by an apparatus comprising an exterior wall, bottom and top walls, an interior wall (adjacent to the outer dimensions of the cooking chamber), a hollow interior through which a cooling fluid flows, inlet(s) to the hollow interior, and outlet(s) from the hollow interior. Fluid influx and efflux is regulated through openings in the apparatus which allow for the exchange of fluid that has absorbed heat from the pressure cooker. The apparatus uses circulating fluid(s), external to the pressure cooker, to rapidly cool the pressure cooker through heat conduction.
