ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pressure cooker. The body portion or lid of the cooker carries a pressure relief valve assembly comprising a relief valve having a valve member and a valve seating. The valve member or the seating acts against the other under pressure of biasing means to close a valve port opening into the interior of the cooker. A timer can be preset to act on an operating member to relieve the pressure of the biasing means and/or give an audible warning after a predetermined time. The use of a timer in a pressure cooker is not known in the prior art.
