ABSTRACT An apparatus is disclosed that fixes powder images to a receptor by means of pressure. Pressure fixing images to a receptor, such as paper, by means of smooth steel rolls produces copies that have shiny image and background areas. The present invention overcomes this problem by providing a pressure fixing apparatus having a first or top roll to contact the surface of the receptor bearing the powder image, and a second or bottom roll to contact the opposite surface of the paper. The top roll has an irregular, non-compliant surface bearing numerous randomly sized, domed projections. The bottom roll has a compliant surface. The rolls have skewed longitudinal axes with respect to each other and contact each other when no receptor is passing between them.
