Abstract A pressure limiting valve (1) is disposed between an inlet aperture (6) and an outlet aperture (7). A valve element (3) influenced by a spring (4) opens a path to a discharge passage as soon as a predetermined static pressure within the valve has been exceeded. For this purpose, a first pressure engaging surface (FA) acting in the same sense as the spring (4) is smaller than the oppositely acting second pressure engaging surface (FE). Fig. 1
