A moving valve lid (208) co-operating with a valve seat (207) is provided in a valve body (201). The lid (208) is connected by way of a spindle (209) to a servopiston (203) moving in a cylinder (204). The valve seat (207) merges, on the side remote from the lid (208), into a compensating cylinder (214) in which a compensating piston (213) connected coaxially to the lid is guided. Those end faces of the lid (208) and compensating piston (213) which are near one another are of substantially the same size as one another. A hollow flow deflector (229) is disposed in the valve body (201) upstream of the valve seat (207) and the lid (208) has on its medium inflow side an extension (218) which is of substantially the same diameter as the lid and which extends into the flow deflector (229).
