ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Monitors for measuring the pressure in the cuff of a tracheal tube are known. In the present invention, the monitor is clipped onto a coupling at the end of an inflation indicator balloon. A silicon strain gauge pressure sensor is urged resiliently against one side of the balloon, the other side of which rests on a base plate. The sensor provides an output to a numeric display on the monitor representative of pressure in the balloon and hence in the cuff.
