ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pressure reducing valve according to this invention consists of a housing for a valve seating member and the valve member. The housing has a main chamber located therein within which the valve seating member is mounted for longitudinal movement. A valve chamber is formed in the valve seating member and is proportioned such that the valve seating member is balanced with respect to the pressure of fluid in the inlet side of the valve. The valve member is mounted in the valve chamber and secured with respect to the housing against movement such that the valve is closed by movement of the valve seating member into engagement with the valve member when the pressure downstream of the valve member exceeds the predetermined maximum output pressure. The valve provides throughput passages which are axially alligned with one another to minimize the turbulence in the flow of fluid therethrough.
