The present invention provides a pressure relief valve (10) for a flexible pouch (12) which is integrated directly into the flexible pouch material. The valve permits excess of gas to dissipate through the valve mechanism but does not permit the reentry of air (hence oxygen) which maintains the food product fresh. The valve is integrated into the pouch material without implanting a fitment. The nature of the valve design results in the closing of the channels of the valve when gas is not discharging through the valve. A secondary purpose of the valve is to maintain the pressure in the pouch below an amount that can bloat the pouch to the extent that the seals can rupture and permit oxygen penetration or spilling of the contents outside the pouch. A nitrogen cap is maintained in the pouch thereby ensuring freshness of the product stored in the pouch.

L'invention concerne une soupape de décharge conçue pour une poche souple qui est intégrée directement dans le matériau de ladite poche. La soupape permet à l'excès de gaz de se dissiper par le dispositif de soupape, mais empêche la rentrée d'air (donc de l'oxygène), la fraîcheur du produit alimentaire étant ainsi conservée. La soupape est solidaire du matériau de la poche sans implantation de cloison. Le type de conception de la soupape permet de fermer les voies de la soupape lorsque le gaz ne sort pas par la soupape. Ladite soupape a pour second objectif de maintenir la pression dans la poche sous une valeur à laquelle la poche peut gonfler jusqu'à rompre ses joints et permettre la pénétration de l'oxygène ou le déversement de son contenu. Une calotte d'azote, maintenue dans la poche, assure la fraîcheur du produit que ladite poche contient.
