ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a pressure-resistant locking mechanism for doors of switch boxes. These locking mech- anisms usually operate independently of any function in associa- tion with the switch box. It can thus happen that the operator forgets to actuate the locking mechanism. Therefore, it is proposed to insert torsion bars, which are connected via levers to springs installed on the door, in hollow spaces formed by U-shaped flanges of the box wall and U-shaped flanges of the door. The springs always keep the torsion bars at rest so that the locking mechanism is always effective. When the locking mechanism is to be released the levers must be swung downwards by 90° so that the torsion bars reach the release position.
