A fluid flow regulator (10) of a type having a variable outlet defined by a spacing between an outlet aperture (24) and a flexible diaphragm (14), and in which the position of the flexible diaphragm (14) varies as a function of a pressure differential between a sensing chamber (16) on a first side of the diaphragm and an outlet chamber (18) on a second side of the diaphragm. The regulator (10) includes an adjustable flow impedance configuration (22) in the flow path from the sensing chamber (16) to the outlet chamber (18), the flow impedance configuration (22) defined by two cylindrical elements (12, 20) having opposing cylindrical surfaces (26, 28) which are in sliding contact. One of the cylindrical surfaces (26, 28) has a groove (30) configured to define a flow-attenuating passageway having a net flow vector substantially parallel to the axis of the cylindrical surfaces (26, 28). Axial relative movement between the elements (12, 20) causes a variation in an extent of overlap between the cylindrical surfaces (26, 28), thereby varying an operative length of the flow-attenuating passageway.

L'invention concerne un régulateur (10) de débit de fluide du type ayant une sortie variable définie par un espacement entre une ouverture (24) de sortie et une membrane (14) souple dont la position varie en fonction d'une différence de pression entre une chambre de détection (16) sur un premier côté de la membrane et une chambre de sortie (18) sur un second côté de cette membrane. Le régulateur (10) comprend une structure (22) d'impédance de débit réglable définie par deux éléments cylindriques (12, 20) présentant des surfaces cylindriques (26, 28) opposées en contact coulissant. Une de ces surfaces (26, 28) présente une rainure (30) qui définit un passage d'atténuation de débit dont le vecteur de débit net est sensiblement parallèle à l'axe des surfaces cylindriques (26, 28). Le déplacement axial relatif entre les éléments (12, 20) entraîne une variation au niveau d'une étendue de chevauchement entre les surfaces cylindriques (26, 28) et, par conséquent, la variation d'une longueur opérationnelle du passage d'atténuation de débit.
