Business forms (10) having longitudinal and transverse patterns (15, 16) of pressure activated cohesive requiring a sealing force of at least about 50 lbs. per lineal inch are sealed preferably by a single pass through a nip formed by first and second rollers. The first roller (27) is a larger diameter substantially smooth surfaced roll, while the second roller (33) is a small diameter serrated or ribbed roll, e.g. having serrations or ribs having a dimension substantially parallel to the axis of rotation of about .04-.1 (e.g. about 1/16) inches, with spaces therebetween of between about .2-1. inches (e.g. between about 1/32 - 1/16) inches. Preferably the serrations or ribs are oppositely directed angled serrations or ribs on different halves of the second roll, each making an angle of at least about 10~ with respect to a plane substantially transverse to the axis of rotation. The rolls are typically 4 - 12 inches in length, and when 6 inches in length or more, a reinforcing roll preferably engages the second roll to prevent bowing of the second roll.

Le premier rouleau (27) présente un large diamètre et possède une surface fortement lisse, alors que le second rouleau (33) présente un petit diamètre et est dentelé ou nervuré. La taille des dentelures ou nervures, qui sont sensiblement parallèles à l'axe de rotation, peut être comprise entre 0,04 et 0,1 pouce environ (1/16 pouces environ), l'espace entre les rouleaux variant entre 0,2 et 0,1 pouce (par exemple entre 1/32 et 1/16 pouce environ). Les dentelures ou nervures sont de préférence inclinées en sens opposé et couvrent les deux moitiés du second rouleau, chacune formant un angle d'au moins 10· par rapport à un plan sensiblement transversal à l'axe de rotation. Les rouleaux ont généralement une longueur comprise entre 4 et 12 pouces. Si cette longueur est supérieure ou égale à 6 pouces, on ajoute de préférence un rouleau de renforcement qui vient en contact avec le second rouleau afin d'empêcher la déformation de ce dernier.
