ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pressure-sensitive adhesive composition is dis- closed which comprises synthetic and/or natural rubber in combination with a synthetic resin. This resin is an aromatic hydrocarbon resin resulting from the polymeriza- tion of a selected fraction of thermally cracked petroleum oil, which fraction has a boiling point in the range of 140° to 220°C and contains such contents of conjugated diolefins and indene and its derivatives and such rates of conjugated diolefin content and indene content that are severely restricted to provide highly satisfactory tackiness, adhesive and cohesive strength and other important properties of the resulting pressure-sensitive adhesive compounds.
