ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pressure swing adsorption process of the type utilizing at least one adsorption bed provided with a gas inlet and a gas outlet. Feed gas mixture is flown into the inlet to adsorb a predetermined component or components of the mixture within the bed. The remainder of the mixture flows out of the outlet as product gas until the bed is about saturated with the said component or components. The flows into and out of the bed during the adsorption step are controlled to assure that the bed undergoes a decrease in pressure during the adsorption step, with the result that energy requirements of the operation are reduced.
