ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A system and method is disclosed for fractionating at least one component from a gaseous mixture by pressure swing adsorption. The system operates with at least one adsorption bed having a gas inlet and a gas outlet and a conduit for connecting the gas outlet with a product gas conduit at the end of the system. A reservoir is inter- posed in the system such that its discharge can be selectively communicated with the product gas conduit at the end of the system, while the inlet of the reservoir can be selectively communicated with the gas outlet of the bed. Accordingly, the gas from the reservoir can be discharged to the product gas conduit on interruption of the flow from the adsorption bed. The advance in the art is in an improved uniformity of supply of the product gas due to the maintaining of a reserve of the product gas.
