Abstract The present invention relates to a pressureless hot water accumulator for district heating systems in which the diffusers (7, 8) are constructed so that the least possible turbulence will occur in the water volume of the accumulator tank (1), and so that a thin and stable partition layer (6) is maintained between the hot water layer (4) and the cold water layer (5) when hot water and cold water are delivered at maximum flow in the tank, via the diffusers, and to a method and an arrange- ment for maintaining the water vapour present above the hot water layer (4) at n substantially constant over- pressure, so as to prevent the ingress of oxygen.
