ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pressurized, dual-stage screening device for fiber suspension, comprising a pair of concentric cylindrical screens radially spaced apart from one another to define therebetween an annular chamber. A cylindrical baffle is rotatably mounted between the screens to divide the annular chamber into a pair of concentric annular regions. The cylindrical baffle constitutes a barrier for preventing pulp stock from flowing radially between the annular chambers over a major portion of the screens axial length. A plurality of blades are mounted to the cylindrical baffle and project radially therefrom to create, upon rotation of the cylindrical baffle, localized cyclical pressure pulsations in the pulp stock to dislodge impurities obturating the apertures of the screens. A transfer channel formed near an end portion of the screens establishes a fluid path between the annular regions to allow pulp stock to flow therebetween.
