Pretreated aluminum and aluminum alloys and the process and composition for pretreating said aluminum and its alloys to provide a coating with color recognition for identification purposes and to improve the corrosion- resistance, electrical conductivity, and adhesion properties which comprises pretreating said aluminum and its alloys with an effective amount of an acidic aqueous solution having a pH ranging from about 2.5 to 5.5 comprising water soluble trivalent chromium compounds, alkali metal hexafluorozirconates, divalent zinc compounds, alkali metal fluoro-compounds, and effective amounts of water soluble thickeners, surfactants or wetting agents.
L'invention concerne de l'aluminium et des alliages d'aluminium prétraités ainsi que le procédé et la composition permettant de prétraiter ledit aluminium ou ses alliages, de façon à obtenir un revêtement à couleurs reconnaissables, permettant l'identification, et à améliorer la résistance à la corrosion, la conductivité électrique, et les propriétés d'adhérence. Ledit procédé comprend le prétraitement de l'aluminium et de ses alliages avec une quantité efficace d'une solution aqueuse acide présentant un pH compris entre 2,5 et 5,5 environ comprenant des composés de chrome trivalents hydrosolubles, des hexafluorozirconates métalliques alcali, des composés de zinc divalent, des composés fluorométalliques alcali et une quantité efficace d'agents épaississants hydrosolubles, des agents tensioactifs ou des agents humidifiants.
