A pharmaceutical composition for use in the prevention and/or treatment of a neurodegenerative disorder comprising a compound comprised of one or more disaccharide units, the or each disaccharide unit comprising a uronate moiety linked to a glucosamine moiety, wherein the 2-O atom of the uronate moiety is substituted with a hydrogen atom, the 6-O atom of the glucosamine moiety is substituted with a sulphate group and the 2-N atom of the glucosamine moiety is substituted with an atom or group other than a sulphate group. The composition is particularly preferred for use in the prevention and/or treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

L'invention concerne une composition pharmaceutique destinée à être employée pour la prévention et/ou le traitement d'un trouble neurodégénératif. Cette composition pharmaceutique comprend un composé contenant une ou plusieurs unités de disaccharide, l'unité de disaccharide ou chaque unité de disaccharide comprenant un fragment d'uronate lié à un fragment de glucosamine, où l'atome 2-O du fragment d'uronate est substitué par un atome d'hydrogène, l'atome 6-O du fragment de glucosamine est substitué par un groupe sulfate et l'atome 2-N du fragment de glucosamine est substitué par un atome ou un groupe autre qu'un groupe sulfate.
