ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Triamcinolone acetonide 21-oic acid methyl ester, other compounds affecting the arachidonic acid cascade and other known synthesis inhibitors, and topical and pharmaceutical compositions thereof are utilized in a method of treating ultraviolet radiation exposed skin to inhibit ultraviolet radiation suppression of delayed hypersensitivity in the epidermis thereby reducing or obviating the carcinogenic effects of the sunburn. Formulations of the triamcinolone acetonide 21-enoic acid methyl ester preferably contain about 0.005 to 1.0 percent by weight of the active ingredient.
