ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The accumulation of gaseous ammonia in areas wherein animals are housed or maintained is controlled by providing to the areas animal litter, bedding, or other absorbent material which contain a urease inhibiting compound. Phosphorodiamide compounds are used and especially phenylphosphorodamidate. These compounds can be used in concentrations of 0.1 to 1000 ppm, expressed as the ratio of the weight of compound per weight of dry bedding.
