In dentifrices containing sodium bicarbonate and anionic species which can react with sodium and water to precipitate hydrated crystals, the ratio of water to humectants, abrasives, and/or thickeners is adjusted so that the dentifrice has a water activity of no greater than 0.60 so as to greatly reduce the salting out of the anionic species.

Selon l'invention, dans des dentifrices contenant du bicarbonate de soude et des espèces anioniques pouvant réagir avec du sodium et de l'eau en formant un précipité sous la forme de cristaux hydratés, la proportion d'eau par rapport aux humectants, abrasifs et/ou épaississants est ajustée de sorte que le dentifrice présente une activité de l'eau inférieure ou égale à 0,60 pour permettre ainsi de réduire considérablement le relargage des espèces anioniques.
