Leakage from liposomes or biological cells which occurs upon cooling through the thermotropic phase transition temperature is reduced or eliminated by incorporating thermal hysteresis proteins in the liposome or cell structure. Preferred thermal hysteresis proteins are antifreeze proteins and antifreeze glycoproteins from polar fish species, and chromatographic fraction no. 8 of antifreeze glycoproteins has been found to be particularly effective.

L'invention porte sur un procédé de réduction ou d'élimination des fuites des liposomes ou des cellules biologiques se produisant pendant leur refroidissement à la température de transition de phase thermotrope et consistant à introduire dans des liposomes ou des structures cellulaires des protéines à hystérèse thermique. Il s'agit de préférence de protéines ou de glycoprotéines anti-gel provenant d'espèces de poissons polaires. La fraction chromatographique n~ 8 desdites glycoprotéines s'est avérée particulièrement efficace.
