ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An anti-corrosion primer base paint composition comprising about 58% to 68% by volume (per total non-volatile) selected from the group comprising a blend of phenolic modified alkyd/ plasticizing alkyd and a blend of short and medium oil length non- modified alkyds and phenolic dispersion resins; about 8% to 12% by volume (per total non-volatile) anti-corrosion pigments selected from the group consisting of salts or borates and salts of phosphates, the weight ratio of salts of borates to salts of phosphate being between about 2:1 and 4:3; and the balance of the ingredients, as required, being selected from the group comprising of one or more of inert extenders, inert coloring pigments, anti- settling agents, anti-skinning agents, anti-wetting agents, paint driers and solvent blend. The primer composition in accordance with the present invention is designed as a non-toxic replacement for zinc chromate-containing primers.
