ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed herein is an internal combustion engine including a cylinder, a first conduit communicating with a fuel source, a carburetor connected in communication with the first conduit for introducing a fuel-air mixture into the cylinder and having a throttle valve, a fuel injection port communicating with the cylinder at a location down- stream of the carburetor throttle valve, pumping means communicating with the first conduit and operable to pump fuel through the first conduit, a second conduit connected in communication with the pumping means and with the fuel injection port, and a normally closed primer valve located in the second conduit for preventing fuel flow through the second conduit during normal engine operation and operable to an open position for selectively permitting a quantity of primer fuel to be pumped to the engine through the fuel injection port by the pumping means.
