PRINTHEAD PERFORMANCE TUNING VIA INK VISCOSITY ADJUSTMENT ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The drop stability of a pen employed in an ink-jet printer is increased by increasing the viscosity of the ink. For inks comprising water/glycols, the increase in viscosity is easily accomplished by increasing the ratio of glycol to water. In one ink, a 20% increase in glycol concentration resulted in a 50% increase in viscosity and a decrease in the variation of angular misdirection by 43%.
