ABSTRACT A print head for a labeller has print bands positioned by annular drive gears, a rotatable tubular shaft within the gears, and a selector shaft having a finger projecting through a slot in the shaft so as selectively to engage the drive gears. The shaft has portions of different in- ternal diameter, the slot being formed in the smaller diameter portion so that the selector shaft can be engaged with the slotted portion without the necessity for extend- ing the slot to either end of the shaft. A resilient finger is supported at one end by the tubular shaft and extends axially into engagement with a rack on the selec- tor shaft to detain the latter in selected axial positions.
