Abstract of the Disclosure The disclosure relates to a printer having a stationary frame, and a print head and a cooperable platen mounted by the frame. In one embodiment, the print head is fixed to the frame and the platen is movable toward and away from the print head. A driving mechanism includes an electric motor and a resilient drive connection between the motor and the platen. The platen and the frame have cooperable stops for stopping movement of the platen at a predetermined stop position. The stop position can be varied to effect printing impression control.
