ABSTRACT A printing apparatus for transcribing a desired pattern onto an article to be printed comprises a transcription tub which is open at an upper side thereof and contains a liquid, a liquid flowing means for causing the liquid in the transcription tub to flow at a fixed flow rate and in a pre- determined direction from one end to an opposite end of the transcription tub, a film supplying means arranged upstream of the transcription tub for supplying a transcription film having a transcription pattern printed on a side thereof onto the surface of the liquid with the transcription pattern facing upwardly, and an article supplying means arranged above the transcription tub for immersing at least part of the article to be printed into the liquid while keeping the article in contact with the transcription pattern of the film. The article supplying means is adapted to move the article to be printed into contact with the surface of the film in a slanted direction towards the downstream end of the transcription tub, to change over the direction of movement of the article in the liquid whereby to cause the film to closely adhere to the article and thereby transcribe the pattern thereonto, and to lift up the article slantly towards the downstream end to move the printed article out of the transcription tub. The printing apparatus of the present invention is particularly adapted to carry out the continuous transcription of a pattern onto an article to be printed.
