A method of determining media and/or media colorant of a printing cartridge, and such a pritng cartridge, are provided, in which a number of capacitive sensors in an array of such sensors are actuated with a number of corresponding actuating formations positioned on the printing cartridge. The actuating formations collectively representing data relating to the media in the cartridge, so that the capacitive sensors, when actuated, generate a signal carrying data relating to the media and/or media colorant.
