PRINTING CODER Abstract of the Disclosure A printing apparatus for imprinting or coding closures and the like with specified information. The printing apparatus includes a floating print roll which is independently adjustable to accommodate height variations in the items being encoded and is lever supported for quick release from an ink metering roll. The print roll is rotatably driven and released from the ink metering roll by the items being imprinted. The metering roll is fed by an inking roll, and both are driven to relieve wear between them.
