In order to provide a printing color or a printing ink for foodstuff packaging or contact devices, which may come in contact with foodstuffs, comprising a binding agent with a resin component and a solvent component, wherein the color or print can be used in a simple manner, according to the invention the solvent component of the varnish is a single or multi-component saturated solvent for resin, the solvent or the components of the solvent being a foodstuff or foodstuff additive.
