ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A portable device for indicating occupancy of a toilet stall, and, as a second function, a portable device for latching closed a toilet stall door is described. The device comprises a thin blade firmly affixed to the end of a shaft. The free end of the shaft passes through a holed, thin plate. The plane of the plate is oriented perpendicular to the plane of the blade. The plate is grooved, such that rotation of the plate through an angle of 90° will make the plane of the plate coincident with the longitudinal axis of the shaft. A helical spring is located on the shaft between the plate and the free end of the shaft. A bend in the shaft is located near the free end of the shaft, so as to restrain the plate and spring from sliding off the free end of the shaft. The device is compact and lightweight, and amenable to being carried in a purse or wallet.
