- 13 - PRIVACY RINGING APPARATUS ABSTRACT OF TEE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for interfacing a telecommunications device with a divided party line comprises means (82) for blocking a signal path and means (90, 94) for detecting the polarity and the frequency of a ring signal being propagated along the signal path. Further means (90, 94) for determining if the polarity corresponds with a reference polarity and the frequency falls within a predetermined frequency range is provided. The apparatus further comprises means (98, 100, 102), responsive to the polarity and frequency determining means, for bypassing the blocking means if the polarity and frequency correspond with the reference values.
