A B S T R A C T A privacy screen module is disclosed that is free standing and may be joined with similar modules to make up a screened area. The screen module comprises a base having an elongated hexagonal horizontal cross section bounded by a pair of elongated sides and respective pair of end faces at each end, each pair of end faces having an in- cluded angle not greater than about 90°, frame carrying a nontransparent screen surface, the frame including a respective upright member extending from each included angle of the base, adjacent screen modules adapted to be placed at an angle of up to about 90° on either side from an in-line position adjacent a first screen module, and the upright members of the adjacent screen modules retain the same minimum distance apart.
