ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A privacy signal transmission system has a transmitter including digital pulse modulator for converting a first analog signal into a first digital signal, an encryption circuit for converting the first digital signal into a digital privacy signal and an extractor for extracting a first error signal representative of a difference between a second analog signal provided by analog conversion of the first digital signal and the first analog signal. The first error signal and the first digital privacy signal are transmitted to a receiver which individually generates a second error signal and a second digital privacy signal. A decryption circuit in the receiver converts the second digital privacy signal into a second digital signal, a digital pulse demodulator converts the second digital signal into a third analog signal, and a reproduction circuit reproduces the first analog signal by adding the error signal to the third analog signal. Despite the use of inexpensive digital encryption and decryption circuitry the transmission system is capable of transmitting high quality analog signals.
