A procedure is described for production of line data from measurements correlated with specific characteristics of an object measured. The invention provides that the measurements thus obtained are coded by measurement point and stored in an orientated matrix, the individual elements of this matrix are examined repeatedly for prescribed correlations and that the elements meeting in each case the prescribed correlation are in each case coordinated into groups of point coordinates defining a line plot, and that the line plots thus produced are depicted.
