ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of braking an asynchronous motor employs pulse breadth modulation to control the amount of current passing to the braking winding of the motor. In order that, in the braking process, the frequency of the current will fall within a range where it causes no momentary fluctuations in the motor and where its additional filtering is easy and economically profitable, the braking current is supplied by a chopper d.c. current source, its control being 80 implemented that the frequency of the braking current pulses passing to the braking winding of the motor is high and adjustable.
