ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a method for the manufacture of hard-surfaced, cast iron objects, in particular of rolls such as rolls for the steel industry or paper calendering rolls, wherein the objects are cast in sand or in a like manner such that on cooling they have mainly a crystal structure of grey cast iron, and thereafter undergo a remelting treatment with a view to obtaining a surface hard casting using at least one electron beam.
